Requirements include:

At least 2 years of verified experience within the last 5 years in the mechanical trade Successful completion of the technical trade exam and the Business Management & Law exam

Submission of a financial statement or surety bond

Compliance with renewal requirements every two years

The license is divided into subclassifications such as air conditioning, heating, refrigeration, plumbing, and packaged equipment, each tied to the applicant’s financial limit or “license group.”

2. General Contractor License 

The General Contractor License applies to individuals or companies constructing, repairing, or improving buildings and large structures.

It authorizes the holder to oversee multiple trades—including mechanical, electrical, and structural work—through licensed subcontractors.

A minimum of 2 years of commercial experience within the past 5 years
